چکیده

In this manuscript, the authors presented several lines of evidence in supporting their argument that dew is a nighttime reservoir and a morning source for atmospheric ammonia (NH3). They have demonstrated by the laboratory experiments using artificial dew solutions that the release of ammonia from drying dew can be predicted from dew ion composition. Their field measurement results have shown that ambient NH3 levels decreased in both dry and dew event nights, and then increased in only the mornings following the dew event nights, and the time of release coincided with dew evaporation. Furthermore, the morning increases in NH3 levels can be quantitatively explained by the releases of ammonia in the dews. The laboratory experiments and field measurements were well designed, the results and data were of high quality, and the manuscript is well prepared. I would recommend the publication of this manuscript in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics. I have several comments need to

Interactive comment on “The role of dew as a nighttime reservoir and morning source of atmospheric ammonia”

This manuscript examines the potential for ammonia accumulation in dew with subsequent release to the atmosphere during surface drying. The authors examine this process using a combination of laboratory and field dew chemistry measurements, measurement of dew amount, and atmospheric measurements of ammonia. The experiment is well designed and the results and conclusions are, for the most part, ...

Source Fingerprinting of Sediment Deposited in the Dam Reservoir: A Case of Lavar Dam Watershed, Fin, Hormozgan Province

Extended abstract 1. Introduction Soil erosion is a major environmental threat worldwide. This three-stage process including detachment, transportation and sedimentation of soil particle by runoff affects natural and agricultural areas of Iran. Soil erosion has many off-site and on-site effects such as sediment deposition in the lake of dam and channels, transportation of nutrients and contam...

Interactive comment on “Nighttime observation and chemistry of HOx in the Pearl River Delta and Beijing in summer 2006” by K. D. Lu et al

The authors discuss three different mechanisms that could explain the observations. These include as yet unknown HOx recycling reactions, similar to that used to explain large daytime concentrations of HOx from the same campaigns; a source of HOx from nighttime ozonolysis reactions of highly reactive biogenic VOCs; and transport of radical reservoirs from a layer aloft to the surface. None of t...

How Useful Are Early Economic Models?; Comment on “Problems and Promises of Health Technologies: The Role of Early Health Economic Modelling”

Early economic modelling has long been recommended to aid research and development (R&D;) decisions in medical innovation, although they are less frequently published and critically appraised. A review of 30 innovations by Grutters et al provides an opportunity to evaluate how early models are used in practice. The evidence of early models can be used to inform two types...

Atmospheric Ammonia Sources during Severe Haze Episodes: Evidence from N‐Stable Isotope in Size-Resolved Aerosol Ammonium” P et al. presented the isotopic measurements of sizeresolved aerosols in Beijing, summarizing that fossil fuelrelated ammonia emissions (including traffic, coal combustion and power plants ammonia slip) have overtaken agricultural activities as the dominant source of atmosp...
